Cockroach control

Cockroach Control in Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky

Roaches are the call people put off making. There is nothing to be embarrassed about — they arrive on a box or through a shared wall, and getting rid of them is a technical problem, not a character judgement.

Why the spray didn't work

Treating Where They Live, Not Where You See Them

The roach on the floor at midnight is the part of the population you can see, and it is not the part that matters. The rest are pressed into a crack somewhere warm and close to water — behind the fridge, inside the dishwasher housing, under a cabinet lip, in the void around a pipe. Treat the floor and you treat the visitors.

That is also why the aerosol from the hardware store so often makes things worse. It repels. The population reads it as a reason to move, spreads further into the structure, and comes back from somewhere less reachable than where it started.

The work is finding the harborage and putting bait into it, then dealing with the generation that hatches after. It takes more than one visit, and anyone telling you otherwise has not looked behind the refrigerator.

What to look for

Signs You Have a Cockroach Problem

Droppings and egg cases are the giveaway. If you are finding them in more than one room, the population is past the early stage.

  • Live roaches at night, or in dark, damp spots like under the sink
  • Droppings that look like coffee grounds or coarse black pepper
  • A musty, oily smell that gets stronger as the population grows
  • Egg cases — small, ridged capsules — tucked into cracks and crevices
  • Chew marks on food packaging, cardboard or paper

Our process

How We Deal With Roaches

  1. Detailed inspection

First we work out which roach it is, because German and American roaches live differently and are not treated the same way. Then we find the harborage — behind and under the refrigerator, inside the motor housing of the dishwasher, under the lip of a cabinet, in a wall void near a warm pipe.

  2. Targeted treatment

Gel baits, professional-grade insecticide and insect growth regulators, placed in the places roaches actually go. The growth regulator matters: it stops the nymphs coming through, which is what turns a knock-down into an actual end.

  3. Sealing and exclusion

Gaps around pipe penetrations, behind escutcheon plates, along the toe-kick and where the countertop meets the wall. We point out what to close and, where it makes sense, what to fix first.

  4. Sanitation and prevention advice

Practical, specific and short: the leak under the sink, the recycling that stays wet, the cardboard on the basement floor. Roaches need water more than they need food, and that is usually where the fix is.

Questions

Cockroach Questions We Get Asked

Why are cockroaches so hard to get rid of?

They breed quickly, they hide in spaces you cannot see into, and populations build resistance to the products sold for them over time. A spray you can buy scatters them into wall voids and the neighbouring rooms, which makes the problem bigger and harder to reach.

How long does it take to get rid of a cockroach infestation?

It depends on the species and how established they are. Most treatments take multiple visits over a few weeks or months, because the eggs already laid are protected from anything applied today and have to be dealt with as they hatch. We'll set out the plan so you know what's happening and when.

Does having roaches mean my house is dirty?

No. German cockroaches usually arrive on something — a grocery box, a delivery, a piece of second-hand furniture, or through a shared wall from a neighbouring unit. Once inside they'll live on very little. Sanitation affects how fast a population grows; it is not what starts one.

Do you offer cockroach control for businesses?

Yes. We work with small businesses, restaurants and other small commercial properties across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, where the stakes and the inspection requirements are different from a house.

Is cockroach treatment safe for my family and pets?

Safety is a priority. We'll explain what we're using, where it's applied, and any simple precautions to follow. Most of the work is gel bait placed inside cracks and voids rather than sprayed across open surfaces.

What can I do to stop them coming back?

Fix the leaks, keep food sealed, empty the recycling, get cardboard off the floor and close the gaps we point out. Roaches can go a long time without food but not without water, so a dripping trap under the sink undoes a lot of good work.
