Bed Bug Treatment in Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky

A bed bug problem isn't a housekeeping problem. They arrive in luggage, in secondhand furniture, on a guest, or through a shared wall — and the sooner someone looks properly, the smaller the job is.

First, Don't Panic — and Don't Spray

Almost every bed bug call starts the same way: a row of itchy marks, a phone at six in the morning, and an hour of reading forums. Two things are worth knowing before you spend any money.

The first is that bites are the least reliable evidence you have. Plenty of people don't react to them at all, and reactions can take days to appear, so the night you were bitten and the morning you noticed can be a week apart. The diagnosis is made at the mattress seam, not on your arm.

The second is that the hardware store aisle will usually make things worse. When University of Kentucky researchers published their landmark work on bed bug insecticide resistance, three of the populations they tested were collected here in Cincinnati — and Ohio State researchers testing consumer foggers against field-collected bed bugs measured roughly two percent mortality. Spraying a baseboard mostly teaches the population to move somewhere you aren't looking, which in an attached building can mean your neighbor's bedroom.

What actually helps on day one: capture a specimen if you can, photograph what you found and where, strip the bedding and run it hot, and call someone to look. And don't move to the couch — bed bugs follow body heat and exhaled carbon dioxide, so sleeping in the living room usually turns one infested room into two.

What to look for

Signs You Might Have Bed Bugs

Take a flashlight to the bed before you take anything apart. Start at the mattress and work outward.

  • Itchy red welts, often in lines or clusters, especially after sleeping
  • Small dark stains on mattresses, sheets or furniture
  • Tiny blood spots on your bedding
  • Shed skins or eggshells in mattress seams and cracks
  • A musty, sweet odor in heavily infested areas
  • Dark spotting along seams that smears rust-brown on a damp cloth

Our process

How We Treat Bed Bugs

  1. Thorough inspection

We go through the room the way the evidence runs: mattress seams and tag, then the box spring with the dust cover pulled back, the frame and headboard joints, then outward to nightstands, upholstery and baseboards.

  2. Customized treatment plan

What we found decides the plan — how far it has spread, whether the building is attached, and how long it has been going on. We walk you through it before anything is applied.

  3. Targeted application

Treatment goes exactly where bed bugs live and breed: mattresses, box springs, furniture, cracks and crevices. Not a fog over the middle of the room, where they aren't.

  4. Follow-up and prevention

Clear instructions for after the treatment, and follow-up visits to finish the job. Eggs are much harder to kill than adults, so the second visit is the hatch cycle — not an upsell.

What to expect

Time, Cost & Visits

The first treatment usually takes several hours, depending on the size of the home and how far along the infestation is. More than one visit is often needed, and we'd rather tell you that at the estimate than discover it together in three weeks.

We do not publish prices, because the honest number depends on how many rooms are involved and what the building is like. The estimate is free, there is no obligation, and it comes after someone has actually looked at the property.

If you're in an apartment or a duplex, tell us. A unit treated perfectly can be reinfested from next door, and the plan has to account for that.

Questions

Bed Bug Questions We Get Asked

How long does bed bug treatment take?

The initial treatment can take several hours, depending on the size of your home and the severity of the infestation. Multiple visits are often required for complete eradication, which our team will discuss with you during the consultation.

How much does bed bug treatment cost in Cincinnati?

The cost varies based on the size of the infestation and your property. We offer free, no-obligation estimates after a thorough inspection, so you'll know exactly what to expect before any work begins.

Do you guarantee your bed bug treatment?

We are committed to your satisfaction and will re-treat if bed bugs reappear within the guarantee period.

Is bed bug treatment safe for pets and children?

Your family comes first. We use EPA-approved products and follow strict safety protocols, and we'll give you specific instructions for preparing your home and keeping everyone, including pets, safe during and after treatment.

What should I do to prepare my home?

Our team will give you a detailed checklist. Generally it involves decluttering, laundering all bedding and clothing on high heat, vacuuming thoroughly, and moving furniture away from walls so we can reach the edges. Preparation makes a real difference to the result.

Should I throw out my mattress?

Usually not, and it rarely helps. It does nothing about the box spring, the frame or the baseboards, and carrying an infested mattress through the house or a shared hallway can spread the problem. Ask us before you spend the money.
